| Lory Nectar & DietsLories are a specialized birds requiring a specialized diet. Their tongue is used to collect pollen and nectar, which is thier primary diet. However, lories are known to eat many other things in the wild such as insects. In fact, the Goldie's lorikeets can and do eat seed.
Birdie Tip: Lories are not necessarily more messy than other birds. It is all dependent on what they are fed. We encourage weaning them onto a dry pellet and dry nectar which are always available in the cage. Then you can supplement with treats such as wet nectar, fresh fruits and vegetables and fruit juice. By maintaining a primarily dry diet, lories have similar poop to other parrots.
